Boggs Brothers Racing pulled into Oakshade Raceway on Saturday, May 2, for the season opening points night. There were over 50 cars in attendence with many regional standouts as well as national competitor Wayne Chinn.
Tyler rolled off fifth in the third heat race, and quickly moved into the second spot after a few laps. Tyler would stage a fierce battle with the veteran Ken Hahn for several laps but settle for the second spot. After redrawing the sixth starting position for the feature, Tyler felt as though he had a good oppurtunity for a strong finish. Tyler battled inside the top five throughout the beginning stages of the race. Around the half way flags, Tyler would work his way past the #117 machine of Kevin Reeve and hold on for an impressive top three finish. Tyler stated that "It was a good night for us. We drew pretty decent, ran a good heat race, and got into the re-draw. I probably could have pushed a little harder with Hahn but I just didn't want to chance anything if we are just going to re-draw anyway. But we ran really well in the feature.. The track was pretty rough tonight and the car held up really well. I just have to thank Travis and David for giving me the oppurtunity to run good every week. They really work hard at the shop and on nights like tonight that really pays off."
Boggs Brothers Racing is excited for the up coming weekend of Limaland Motorsports Park, on Friday, May 8, and Oakshade Raceway on Saturday, May 9. Travis Boggs, head of operations for BBR, commented "Tyler has been improving every week and we've both been learning on the car. I'm really happy with where we're at right now, especially this early in the year. Unfortunately we couldn't go to Florida this year, or race in Kentucky much, so we thought we might be behind a little. But, we've really just picked up right where we left off last year, and thats awesome. David has been a huge help to me and Tyler. Having a full time guy with us really helps to free us up to do more stuff at the shop and concentrate a little more on the small stuff at the race track. David is really loving going with us and we're very fortunate to have him."
